In the spirit of Raya, let's talk about cookies. That's daddy's girl who just learned baking last month. At first we used Betty Crocker premix. A tad too sweet.
The tweetmoms talked about butter cookies that's as good as Kjeldsen, so we gave it a try. Well, I can tell you that it doesn't turn out as shaped cookies. Will have to ask my mom for the tried and tested recipes. I baked when I was younger, cannot recall if it was more of a chore rather than fun LOL.
Haha ok we don't do that, but iPad is really versatile and I can just prop it up with anything, eg with small pillow when I'm reading in bed.
For those who have been using iPhone and have kids conquering the phone, would appreciate the bigger screen on iPad. Ok, I admit it, we're one of those geeks who have plenty of free and purchased apps for the toddler. Of course there are some skeptics, but it's not that she's using iPhone for long period, nor is she hooked on it. That's not the first thing she looks for in the morning, nor does she get withdrawal symptoms not playing with it. (Non believers should stop reading, NOW).
I think it is good when she does her anagram, spelling, colouring on iPad coz it has a bigger screen. I have to admit it's easier to read my textbook on the iPad rather than on the iPhone. I love that I can put my PDF textbooks on iBook and DH purchased iSilo too. Grainger (2 volumes, 5 inches thick) and Dahnert (1.5 inches thick) are 2 essential textbooks for my upcoming professional exam (insha Allah)... and it's too easy to have it in electronic form rather than lugging it around *yay*.
A typical situation would be: mom uses iPad, daughter uses iPhone, but mom has to take a call, passes the iPad to her. And mom gets to capture a beautiful, geeky moment in her toddler's life:
Early in the morning, just as day is dawning, he picks up all his post bags in his van.
Postman Pat
Postman Pat
Postman Pat and his black and white cat,
All the birds are singing as the day is just begining,
Pat feels he's a really happy man.
Everybody knows his bright red van,
All his friends will smile as he waves to greet them, maybe,
You will never be sure, they'll be knock (knock knock)
ring, (ring)
Letters through your door! he he he!
Postman Pat
Postman Pat
Postman Pat and his black and white cat,
All the birds are singing, as the day is just beginning,
Pat feels he's a really happy man.
Pat feels he's a really happy man.
(slowly) Pat feels he's a really happy man.
Ironic, Mr. Daddy watched it as a kid (probably a hit on BBC just like Teletubbies hehe), and now little missy is watching it too. Same old Pat, same old British truck.
Since she has shown interest in books (finally, you might say), we added more books. She had her cloth books, board books, flip books, pop-up books, foam books and an electronic book. Added more big books like picture dictionaries, ABC, story books, activity books. Apparently we share the same interest; the pop-up books, Mr. Men books and a Winnie the Pooh book were from my own collection. I bought it in Dublin (and got some as gifts).. that was way back in 2000-2001. Bookworm mommy?!
After the morning outdoor play, she got settled in for morning snack, activities, lunch and outdoor play while waiting for pick up time (of course I was there throughout). I think she can get used to this routine. She was reluctant to go home... I take it as a good sign. Hope for a good day tomorrow :-)
The cows give us milk! The cows give us milk! Hi-ho the derry-o, the cows give us milk!
The chickens give us eggs! The chickens give us eggs! Hi-ho the derry-o, the chickens give us eggs!
Taken from one of the Baby Einstein series. She loves drinking milk from her blue cup... will add a picture of her later (read: at home with my own pc)
Got this email yesterday. It disturbs me that some thinks early learning is harmful. I was browsing through and forum hopping, apparently this is frequently discussed.
Saying that, I should change my labels... instead of 'lesson', it should be fun learning? Homeschooling/ preschooling? Just like other labels of attachment parenting (AP), babywearing (BW), baby led weaning (BLW), exclusively breastfeeding (EBF)... I never did intend to follow a doctrine. I'm just doing something that comes naturally, and giving the best for my child. But apparently most things I do have a label for it :-)
So, it's not lesson then?
The drag down menu is mainly for me... never did think on how to map it out when I started this blog.
Mornings have always been our fun learning time. It's usually: -breakfast -singing, dancing (I think it's her morning aerobics) -reading -phonetics -art -lunch -bath -zzz...
Tools for singing, dancing: -DVD/VCD -internet. Daddy thought her youtube, and Tok Wan youtubed Alif Baa Taa for her.
I think this entry is long overdue. Ummi Salsabila did ask... but I was kinda busy that time to dig out photos. Apart from shopping complexes, restaurants, Atok&Wan's place... she goes to the park. But it has been awhile since we went to the park ever since she's sleeping through the night (ie 11pm/12am till 9/10am).
DH decided not to teach individual bird's species *phew, I suck at that*. All were birds haha. I didn't BW although I did have the Beco with me, just in case. She had run running around, with us chasing after her. Daddy carried her whenever she got tired... all 3 of us were pretty tired after 2 hours :)
Still no luck with stroller.
The last time we used a stroller, coz I had a backache (must be collecting dust now). Pic was back in December, in a nearby park.

any member of a class of words found in many languages that are used before nouns, pronouns, or other substantives to form phrases functioning as modifiers of verbs, nouns, or adjectives, and that typically express a spatial, temporal, or other relationship, asin, on, by, to, since.
Origin: 1350–1400; ME preposicioun <>praepositiōn- (s. of praepositiō) a putting before, a prefix, preposition. See pre-, position

Usage note: The often heard but misleading “rule” that a sentence should not end with a preposition is transferred from Latin, where it is an accurate description of practice. But English grammar is different from Latin grammar, and the rule does not fit English. In speech, the final preposition is normal and idiomatic, especially in questions:What are we waiting for? Where did he come from? You didn't tell me which floor you worked on. In writing, the problem of placing the preposition arises most when a sentence ends with a relative clause in which the relative pronoun (that; whom; which; whomever; whichever; whomsoever) is the object of a preposition. In edited writing, especially more formal writing, when a pronoun other than that introduces a final relative clause, the preposition usually precedes its object: He abandoned the project to which he had devoted his whole life. I finally telephoned the representative with whom I had been corresponding. If the pronoun is that, which cannot be preceded by a preposition, or if the pronoun is omitted, then the preposition must occur at the end: The librarian found the books that the child had scribbled in. There is the woman he spoke of.
